We completed another successful project, which thrilled all parties involved, especially its users, who, thanks to INITED Solutions, have the cheapest flight tickets at their fingertips. Literally.
We tried new procedures and encountered problems that would not occur to us in our dreams but we managed to do everything in time and the users accepted the application as their own.
Behind the zaletsi.cz portal is a group of enthusiastic travellers, who want to make cheap travels accessible to everyone. They seek the cheapest flight tickets and publish them for booking on their website and now, thanks to us, also on mobile phones. There were already 2 major versions of the app. In the second version they approached us with a redesign of the application and they were satisfied with us to such an extent that they put us in full charge of the 3rd version.
The world of cheap flights is shifting more and more from computers to mobile phones, travellers want to get information about cheap tickets as fast as possible and be in the picture, wherever they are. That is the main goal of Zaletsi 3.0.
The requirements are therefore clear. Create a new version of the application, which will send notifications about flight tickets on offer within seconds, not minutes. Save time by monitoring prices, and most importantly, help save time when buying the ticket. Above all, the app had to have a simple overview of products and intuitive control of functions, thanks to which it would gain plus points from users.
Another requirement was for a better connection between the application and the travellers themselves. Today, you can buy tickets on every corner, but the app also provides an access to a travel community that will advise and help you, and that is not easy to come by.
Last but not least, was reliability. This is no surprise when it comes to mobile applications but in this case, there is a legitimate reason. Will a notification be sent too late? Will a special offer ticket notification not be sent? Will there be an error in the application? All this can happen and it will affect the number of reservations. If the app is not reliable, the users will question its trustworthiness, which may result in a decrease of reservations.
We already have all the development data in hand. We know what the application should look like and what the users want from it. The cards are dealt and we must come up with a solution.
In terms of technologies and frameworks, nothing has changed apart from 2 exceptions. For the first time we used Universal/App links for better connection of content between the app and the web. Also, for the first time, we deployed Firebase analytics for better analyses of user behaviour within the application.
It was important to make sure that the development was going in the right direction. We agreed to do inspections in smaller parts than we are used to. We described what we did and how it can be tested.
Pretty much everything went according to plan. We solved all the problems, which the users encounter when searching for cheap flight tickets. We have a confirmation from the owner that “users perceive the application to be more than a success, they praise the design, functionality, and mainly the prompt notifications about special offer tickets”. Another positive result was traffic growth. The goal was to increase growth in the new application by 30% and this was even exceeded.
However, as it is often the case with development, we encountered a lot of issues that we would have never even dreamed of. Nevertheless, we solved everything and the app is successfully released in Google Play and App Store.
The application will take you to a forum, where you will get useful tips and tricks about traveling. You will create a travel profile, you can meet other adventurers and undertake joint trips. You can save and manage special price monitoring, which turned out to be the most important feature in the entire arsenal.
We have another comment from the owner regarding the future: “The mobile application awaits more minor improvements. The users themselves send us ideas of what they would like to improve in the application. And if it is at least a little bit possible, we try to meet their requests and add the functionality to the app.”
We already discussed the redesign of the second generation of the Zaletsi.cz application with INITED Solutions. And because we were extremely satisfied with them (mainly with the quality of the services provided and the adherence to deadlines), it was clear that the third generation will also be developed by INITED Solutions.
